Liliana's Lost Tooth

Ahhhhh, the many stories with this one.  Liliana has been wiggling this tooth for about 2 weeks.  Same last night at dinner, and so Grace and I were trying to give her ideas on how to make it come out quicker.  She seemed nervous, so I dropped it.  Violet was done eating so I went to start the bath, leaving the older kids to finish dinner.  Moira and Liliana eventually joined the bath, daddy came home, and we all went into the dining room to chat with him.

As were were sitting there I started to pick up the table some.  I picked up something hard and, surprised, I inspected it further.  It was a tooth!  I looked at Liliana and asked why she didn't tell me she had lost a tooth.  She looked back at me dumbfounded, and felt in her mouth.  She hadn't even noticed it was gone!  Nor did anyone else that whole time!  She was very lucky she didn't swallow it and that I found it!

Fast forward to this morning: Liliana wakes up to find a gold dollar left on her bed during the night which she shows off to everyone.  Grace confidentially tells her, "You're really lucky Liliana- Your tooth fairy came the first night, even when you lost your tooth at night.  Mine was always a day late!"

My poor first child, lol!  At leas the tooth fairy is getting better at remembering!

Happy 2nd Birthday Violet!

This girl is 2 going on 12!  She is such a joy in our lives.  She has taken on the role of family clown and loves whenever people are laughing.  She is advancing quickly with her gross motor skills- she can jump with both feet off the floor, open doors, throw and kick balls, and run like there's no tomorrow.  Her verbal skills are getting better- we have added many words, including all sister's names and most of her favorite foods.  She is still behind, but with her advanced gross motor skills, I figure she just isn't concentrating on communication much!  She loves her routines and insists on rocking with mom every night before bed, with her baby in arms, of course.  She can really get into trouble- better than all the others combined- whether it be electronics, food, makeup, nail polish, or juice, this girl can make an award worthy mess!  But she can also melt your heart with her spontaneous hugs, cute smiles, or hilarious antics.  Happy birthday Miss V!

My New Favorite Trick

Violet is not quite two, but she has been practicing her skills for a few months now, especially tantrum throwing.   At some point I got tired of reasoning, as well as listening to her crying, and in exasperation told her to go to her room if she was going to cry.  To my complete surprise, she did exactly that.  Then to my greater surprise she emerged a few minutes later with a big smile on her face, outstretched hands, as if to say, "Ta da!  I'm all better now!"  And she was- whatever wrong I did her forgotten and we moved on.

The great thing is that 75% of the time she will still listen to me and run to her room when she's crying, and then be "all better."  It makes me smile every time.  I don't know how much longer it will last, but for now, I'm loving it!
